The Taste of Ash

from Kaer Morhen by Hekseblad

lyrics

In this garden of suffering
Man in wolf’s clothing lurks,
Condemned to live for eternity,
Dishonored Gods with offense

This cursed man will never die
Live forever, eating ash,
Lycanthrope of Ignorance,
How many nights have come to pass?

The Priestess uttered a curse
With the last breath in her lungs
“You are beastly now, remain so forever more”
Lycanthropic eternity, and a Hunger lasting evermore,

This cursed man will never die
Live forever, eating ash,
Lycanthrope of Ignorance,
How many nights have come to pass?

And on that blessed summer day
A White Wolf entered the garden
The Obsidian Star behind him,
“Lift this curse and set me free,
End this pain and let me breathe,
Unchain me from eternity
And this hunger never ending,
I detest the taste of ash…”

This cursed man will never die
Live forever, eating ash,
Lycanthrope of Ignorance,
How many nights have come to pass?

How long have I been this way?
Trapped in this wretched form,
Could it be a taste of my own flesh
Or the blood of a traitorous friend?
Please, I beg you just set me free,
The Witcher turned as if to say
“You forget; I slay monsters,
Not men in twisted forms”
